Hormel and Jennie-O seek partnership to address the challenge to develop environmentally sustainable solution for poultry litter.

Reason for Seeking External Innovation Partnership
As a leader in food technologies in agriculture, we are interested in further advancing environmentally sustainable initiatives on the farm. Poultry by-products need additional innovation for sustainability.   

Scope of Solution Space

  • Develop process to separate nutrients from poultry bedding. The separated bedding will need to be pasteurized for safe reuse in poultry facilities.
  • Process will need to be a mobile platform.

Innovation Solutions Not of Interest

  • Solutions that are not environmentally sustainable, bio-secure, and safe for livestock.
